Kathmandu. The enlarged meeting of the 21st Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) was held at the office building of the Party Central Committee on November 29, 2020.
The meeting was chaired by Comrade Kim Jong Un, chairman of the WPK, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, upon authorization of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
Members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, and members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee attended the meeting while the leading officials of major departments of the Party Central Committee, members of the Party Congress preparatory committee and other relevant personnel were present as observers.
The meeting discussed and studied as key agenda items the issue of hearing a report on the preparations for the 8th Congress of the WPK and taking corresponding measures, the issue of reorganizing a relevant department mechanism of the Party Central Committee to strengthen the field of the Party ideological work, to more thoroughly establish the Party’s leadership system in relevant institutions and to intensify policy guidance and Party guidance over them and important issues of improving the Party guidance over economic work and carrying out immediate economic tasks. Then decisions were made on them.
The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK heard a report from the Party Congress preparatory committee on the preparations for the 8th Congress of the WPK including the summing up of the work of guidance institutions of Party organizations at all levels and elections, convention of Party meetings to elect delegates to the Party Congress, preparations of documents for the Party Congress, and preparations for political and cultural celebrations before and after the Party Congress. The Political Bureau referred to a series of deviations and major duties of the Congress preparatory committee and indicated the orientation for the issues brought up by the Congress preparatory committee.
The Political Bureau examined relevant issues for improving and strengthening the field of the Party ideological work as required by the developing revolution and approved on the organization mechanism issue.
The Political Bureau harshly criticized the economic guidance organs for failing to provide scientific guidance to fields under their charge under the subjective and objective environment and the prevailing conditions, and for failing to overcome subjectivism and formalism in their work. It stressed the need to put the operation and command for carrying out the Party’s economic policies on a scientific basis and display great dedication and responsibility.
The Political Bureau also discussed measures for important issues of carrying out immediate economic tasks for this year and adopted key decisions with unanimous approval.
