The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India has issued the following statement today (on July 13, 2020):
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India expresses serious concern over the deteriorating health conditions of several jailed political and human rights activists including Varavara Rao and Dr. Saibaba. The unhealthy conditions in the jails and the reluctance of the authorities to provide highly needed medicare facilities especially under the Covid-19 contagious conditions have worsened the situation. Many of those jailed are facing threats to their lives.
The Party. therefore, demands that all political prisoners be released on bail immediately and provided adequate medical care.
