Kathmandu. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) extends his good wishes on the very occasion of International Day of the Working People.

Issuing a statement today, Ex-Prime minister Prachanda extends his best wishes to the working people.

The statement signed by Chairman Prachanda writes, “On the occasion of International Day of the Working People, I express my good wishes to all the working people in the country and aboard for their good health and progress.”

Chairman Prachanda adds, “The International Day of the Working People is celebrated all over the world as a glorious day on today i.e. May 01 of each year to commemorate the struggle of 8 hours working day in the Chicago City of the USA in 1886 May 1 (AD).”

The supreme commander of the Ten Years Great People’s War and the first Prime minister of the Republic of Nepal, Chairman Prachanda recalls the Nepali workers movement, “We are aligned towards the goal of socialism today due to the workers’ movement that began from the Biratnagar Jute Mill in 2003 BS and the sacrificial armed struggle and peaceful mass movements of the working people and peasants at different time period.”

Comrade Prachanda added, “The working class is the main base of the multi-dimensional development of the country,” and continued, “Until the rights of the working class are guaranteed, the economic development and prosperity of the country is impossible.”

Chairman Prachanda said, “This is why, the rights of the working class are guaranteed in the constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal,” and added, “However, the achievements of the sacrificial struggles of the working people are continuously being attacked by the present government.”

In his sound statement, Chairman Prachanda appealed, “It’s the need of the time to get unified for defending the achievements as the elements of regression and anti-change are trying to seize the rights of the working people.”

Chairman Prachanda said, “The people of working-class, who make their living by daily wages and lost their job due to the lockdown after the second wave of coronavirus (Covid-19) are facing a serious problem,” and strongly demanded with the government for managing alternatives to these people including the adequate food and relief materials. He appealed to all the political cadres and social servicemen to extend their helping hands open-heartedly for these jobless workers.

In his good wish message, Chairman Prachanda finally calls on the working class, “On the occasion of the Labour Day, I wish the working class for good health and long life with an appeal to be conscious and spread awareness for protecting own health in this pandemic.”
