Kathmandu: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has received Chinese President Xi Jinping at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Saturday. President Bhandari received President Xi at 5: 12 pm at the TIA.

Similarly, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun ‘Pasang’, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, deputy prime ministers and cabinet ministers have welcomed President Xi ad his delegation at the airport.

The Chinese president arrived at TIA at 4:45 wrapping up his two-day informal visit of India at Chennai, the southern city of India.

President Xi has three formal programmes today. He will hold a bilateral meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari in the evening when the two heads of states will discuss issues of mutual interest.

He will meet Chairman of Nepali Congress and leader of the main opposition Sher Bahadur Deuba, and will participate in dinner.

Visiting President Xi will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday morning when signing of the bilateral agreements will take place.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will meet Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. He is scheduled to return to Beijing in the afternoon the same day.

President Xi Jinping is visiting Nepal at the friendly invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari. This visit of the Chinese Head of the State is taking place after a gap of 23 years and is seen with special importance.
