Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda

Kathmandu. Comrade Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) says that the government should neither favour a religion nor try to block any faith.

Addressing a program in Chitwan today, former Prime Minister Prachanda said that the constitution respects the people’s right to religious independence.

Chairman Prachanda added that communist leaders such as Pushpalal and Congress leaders such as BP Koirala were in favour of scientific thinking and they spend their lives trying to establish that.

He clarified more and said, “However, no one has the right to insult any religion or faith.”

Chairman Prachanda, who led a great People’s War for Ten years to uproot feudalism and autocratic dynastic monarchy from Nepali soil, gave such a statement after some of the reactionary leaders were calling publicly for the regressive restoration of the Hindu nation against the spirit of secularism established by the Constitution of Nepal.

Some of the regressive forces were also demanding restoration of the Monarchy or the Hindu Kingdom in Nepal.

These forces who represent less than a percent of the country population talk aloud in the backing of the defeated feudalist forces within the country or/and the foreign reactionary forces which want to destabilize Nepal and keep it as their puppet. But the Great Nepalese people will defy them and destroy their day-dream, analysts said.
