The demise of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung on July 8, 1994 was a great loss and gave indelible pain to the whole of Korean nation and the progressive people of the world.

President Kim Il Sung made immortal achievements for the country, nation and people during his whole life and rendered outstanding contribution to the common cause of the mankind to create a new independent world.

He was continuously on field guidance to factories and agricultural districts even in his old age of 80s to realize people’s wish and dreams into reality.

That’s why a foreign politician once praised; the peculiarity of the President’s field guidance is that he not only understands the situation and takes necessary measures but if necessary, he discusses them with the Central Committee of the Party and bases Party policy on them.

Comrade Kim Il Sung always regarded the popular masses’ aspiration and demand as the guideline for revolutionary practice and people’s interest as the criteria for all kinds of work. Thanks to him, consecutive state measures including Agrarian Reform Law, Law on Sex Equality, Free Education System and Free Medical System, had been taken in our country to realize people’s century-old wish.

Amidst that, our farmers were completely freed from the burden of taxes.

The system of agricultural tax in kind was put in place in June 1946 under his guidance, and this totally rid our peasants of all kinds of exploitation and plunder in which they were deprived of the most harvest to landlords and Japanese imperialists before the liberation.

In the system of agricultural tax in kind, the peasants gave 25% of their harvest to the state and disposed the rest as their will – this made a great turn in the improvement of peasants’ lives.

The President personally met the peasants to listen to their opinions and saw to it that the system was enforced correctly, fairly and without deviation.

After the completion of agricultural cooperation in our country, he lowered the tax rate to 8.4%, exempted many cooperative farms from the agricultural tax in kind and abolished the tax on industrial crops as a whole.

After that in April 1966, he opened the Fifth Session of the Third Supreme People’s Assembly of DPRK and adopted the law on the abolishment of the agricultural tax in kind, taking a historic measure of completely abolishing the agricultural tax in kind.

There are countless number of stories about the President’s care and affection for people at the cost his devotion and pains.

The great life and immortal achievements of the president will remain forever in the hearts of all Korean people and the progressive people of the world.
